BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT.
A whole week of BGT every evening at peak TV time is remarkable especially when some of the talent is questionable. The Judges had a hard time selecting 40 acts to fill each night and I think some of their choices were based on audience reaction on those early nights. It is the only "old Time" "Sunday Night at the London Palladium" type of show but how times have changed since those "Music Hall" days. It might work from the nostalgia angle but it doesn't work from the talent angle.Trivial dog acts(Mr Cowell is responsible for the judges enthusiasm over them),Miming to records acts,Bellringers,a bulging eyes man(Plus Jedward),a dear old man with his out of tune daughter, etc etc. One young lady( A very good singer) was thrown a Beyonce song, male dancers, plus effects and was immeadiatly out of her comfort zone. Simon Cowell commented on this but to no avail. She was out.
Simon Cowell ,of course, swanned in for the weeks performances expressing some amazement at the judges choices. Well Simon you should have been there!
It needs some sort of reworking in the final stages to make sure that all acts are up to the standard of entertainment. Viewers must appreciate the talent onscreen. Not dismiss it as deplorable. There was too much deplorable this year.
