Languid voice, close to the microphone,sweat and silky....That's Julie London! It's a
completely different experiance in vocal superbness close to the male crooners of
yesteryear ....but with a strong feminine slant. These two albums joined together here
on one CD are her second and third releases. "Cry me a river" started it all off for Julie
follwed by many album releases all available today. The second album is just slightly
 better than the first. ****.

All are good value. A Swingin' affair is available as a single costing about £6, and is a follow
up to" Songs for swingin' lovers" .....some say a better album. I say it is just as good with Nelson
Riddle's orchestra smothing their way through 16 tracks. It now includes the previously missing

hit records. If you are familiar with these songs you will notice the difference. The backing
is altered, Matt sings it slightly differently, the backing is appalling.....and with " My kind of
Girl" the whole concept is new. More Elvis than Sinatra !! Monro's voice conquers all. It is
one of the most pleasing voices I have ever heard. No gimmicks, and in this case, no echo
just perfect singing.*****.

Paloma Faith's first album was a knockout. Strong melodies with a magical soul feel
that blistered your ears with happiness. The second album was good but.....not quite as good
as the first legendary one. This, the third  has a more modern sound at the expense of really
good material. "Can't rely on you" is strutting disco and "Only love can hurt like this" with
a "Spector" wall of sound gets a little lost in it's melody. In fact, with this album the melody does
not linger on. ***.

and concentrating on her TV series and Animal TV series. Her wonderful evocative
voice was sadly almost totally neglected. A five star album.*****.
