of taste. Her re-working of well-known hits of the time doesn't always work effectively but

This collection of 25 bestselling records of 1949 is probably difficult to find today. On
CD in the LIVING ERA COLLECTION it is assembled by recording old shellac records from
the forties. The information on the CD cover is excellent with chart positions and million sales
information. The quality is good for old shellac records.  RIDERS IN THE SKY sounds like
a new record....A DREAMER'S HOLIDAY is poor but then Perry Como re- recorded this
hit from the forties ...in the fifties with a more up-to date recording therefore making the old
recording obsolete. The fact that these recordings are the original ones that made the charts
in America and Britain (Britain didn't publish charts till 1952. American publish everything !)
.....is the most important and interesting reason for buying the album.****
