MATILDA..THE MUSICAL.

The biggest ticket in London at the  moment competing with the likes of WICKED for the most popular
family show in the West End. So is it that good?.....well, yes it is that good but you would be hard
done by to hum any of the songs as you leave the theatre. You will be impressed by the professionalism
of the company of youngsters who make up the chorus and execute the difficult routines with as
much aplomb as their elders. You will be impressed by the acting and singing of one of the four
young actresses playing Matilda.  It's a spectacle of comedy, music and dancing but lacks one hit
song. When groups of children sing together the words get lost and with young ladies singing speedily
the words get lost. This is a Concept Musical that takes your breath away but not a Musical CD you
will go out and buy unless you've seen the show and want a souvenir. It needed a couple of hit songs
to make it great. It's going to America next year and I'm sure it will do as well as it has here...however
they may add a song or two to help it's identification in advertising. I can't see it reviving but I can see
Junior Societies all over the country giving it a go when it is released for Amateurs. This could be
their undoing as this needs Professionals only.
