CARPENTERS + "THE VOICE" ON COLIN HOLMES EASY LISTENING SHOW MARCH 3RD.

THE VOICE.

Now the series has reached the " Battle" and the "steal" version of the programme we have to
put up with 2 hours 10 minutes, for two weeks, of 48 singers reducing to 24. Too long! The will
to live deserted me after one hour of wailing female singers and slightly embarrassed judges
who have to dump one of their precious chosen choices. Get ready for a rating collapse.
The mature lady Sally is going to win anyway.

CARPENTERS. THEIR GREATEST HITS.   A&M RECORDS.
tracks played....Yesterday once more / Superstar / Top of the world / Touch me
when we're dancing / All you get from love is a love song.

The smooth voice of Karen Carpenter over clever production from her brother Richard
makes this a nostalgia blast of excellance from the early seventies. So relaxed, so sad
yet superb stylings from a wonderful duo.****.

RECORDS THAT HAVE STOOD THE TEST OF TIME.

All I have to do is dream....Everly Brothers.
Unfailingly THE record of the late fifties. Beautiful harmonising. Beautiful music.

Let's face the music and dance...Nat King Cole.
A track from a swinging album of well known songs released as a single. Featured
on a TV advert obliterating every other version of the song. There was magic at this
recording session. Nelson Riddle?

What do you want... Adam Faith.
John Barry responsible for those Pitzzicato strings plinking in the background with
Adam Faith's voice growling out the catchy words. A million seller.

Big Spender...Shirley Bassey.
Not high in the charts at the time, but Shirley hit the mark like no other female
vocalist could manage.Special!!

I can't help myself...Four Tops.
Unforgettable, get on the floor and dance, backing with a great commercial lyric,
this is an outstanding Four Tops record that deserved it's success on both sides
of the Atlantic. Still played by DJs today.
